Enhancing The Customer Experience

What an exciting time this is for me! I am honored to serve as MHEDA’s 57th President. I am humbled by the commitment and dedication of those who led the organization before me, and my hope is to carry on the tradition of giving back some of my time to assist the Board and staff in making 2011 a great year for all of its members.

The Membership Committee is working on a “Most Valuable Partner” (MVP) program to recognize members for their commitment to MHEDA, which will demonstrate to the end-user that MHEDA members provide the most value because of their commitment to continuous improvement, excellence and professionalism. The committee established the New Business Champion (NBC) position to work with our Supplier/Associates to educate, share the value of MHEDA and recruit prospective members. We are grateful to our supplier members for their support.

The Education Committee has developed a 2011 calendar with educational opportunities for all members within all industry segments, including programs on strengthening key supplier relationships, economic forecasting, parts and service management, health care reform and building a productive and loyal work force, just to name a few.

The Networking Committee is reaching out to all members, continuing to educate them on the value of MHEDA-NET and other networking opportunities. There will be regional open houses planned to provide all MHEDA members an opportunity to network face-to-face with their peers while keeping costs down.

The Member Advocacy Committee continues to promote and market the value of the MHEDA distributor. Many members are including the MHEDA logo on their websites, letterhead and proposals, which is helping to build the brand. Several MHEDA members are working with local universities to engage students and professors in further defining our industry and the importance of our role in integrating our products and services to enhance the supply chain process.

As you can see, the focus of MHEDA is the same as the members—that is, to increase your value proposition, diversify your offerings, stay focused on exceeding clients’ expectations, develop and mentor team members, acquire new customers and thank them often for their ongoing support.

The Customer Convention
This year’s Convention is themed “The Customer Convention” and offers great programs such as Six Unstoppable Trends that are impacting America’s economic future; The Customer Panel, which provides the opportunity to hear from three industry leaders on how they deliver their customer service promise; The Industry Panel, where distributors and manufacturers from all industry segments explain the steps they are taking to serve and support the customer; and Design the Perfect Customer Experience to ensure more valuable and profitable customer relationships.

I encourage all our members to make the investment to attend this year’s Convention. I can assure that you will walk away with some terrific ideas for changes that will impact your bottom line and meet peers who in time will become great friends and advisors.

The staff and Board have spent countless hours discussing and de-veloping Critical Impact Factors we all need to be positioned to deal with in 2011. With all of us working together, sharing ideas, promoting our value and taking advantage of MHEDA’s many offerings, we will continue to distance ourselves from our competitors, stay focused on value propositions and enhance our customers’ experiences.

I look forward to working with you throughout 2011 and meeting as many of you as possible. So here is to a great 2011, leading with optimism and a smile, working hard and giving thanks to our team and customers for their ongoing commitment and support. Let’s work together with purpose and conviction to make 2011 a great year!
