This is the time of year when MHEDA’s Nominating Committee begins its search for distributors who are interested in serving on the MHEDA Board of Directors. Although the commitment involves a contribution of both time and financial resources, the returns are immeasurable.
As a director, you would be required to participate in two board meetings each year – one in the Winter and one in the Fall. During the year, directors serve on one or more committees and participate in the planning and execution of committee goals and initiatives. Board Members are committed to the continuous improvement of the association and volunteer their time to ensure that programs and services are targeting the needs of the membership. Board Members attend Convention and, along with the MHEDA staff, assist with much of the planning and execution of this industry event.
The demographics of the board mirror the membership in that directors are representative of all segments of the industry: Industrial Truck, Storage & Handling and Engineered Systems. All regions of the country are represented. The composition of the board includes dealers with annual sales volume from under $10 million to over $75 million. All of these factors are considered when nominees are proposed.
A majority of members cite networking as the number one reason for belonging to MHEDA. As a MHEDA Board Member, networking is taken to a whole new level as relationships are broadened and strengthened by the very nature of the commitment. Enhancing the value of your industry association through board service can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your career in material handling.
