MHEDA held its 56th Annual Convention April 30- May 4 in Phoenix, AZ. The event was marked by a general feeling of optimism about the recovering economy. Attendance was up significantly over 2010, with more than 500 attendees and 108 first-time participants. The Convention theme was “The Customer Convention,” and much of the program was related to easing the customer’s pain coming out of the recession. Events included a bevy of keynote speakers who discussed the economic recovery, customer service, branding and protecting your reputation online. Other highlights were educational workshops about online marketing, sales prospecting, compensation, tax laws and more; the Exhibitors’ Showcase, where distributors were able to meet and network with some of the industry’s top suppliers; and, for the first time this year, Customer and Industry panels where end-users, manufacturers and distributors discussed the critical impact factors effecting the economy and material handling.
