Bill Montwieler, executive director of the Industrial Truck Association (ITA) since 1983, reformed international lift truck sales practices, enacted OSHA safety training regulations, established a worldwide statistics program, founded the Truck Standards Development Foundation, and developed many other programs to promote the forklift truck and its safe use. Richards says, “Bill has been a great source of knowledge and a friend to our distributor organization, always seeking collaborative opportunities to further our mutual interests and drive this industry forward.”

Bill has been a beacon of strength and stability in an industry that has faced both booming and challenging times. His work to ensure the safety of the forklift industry is a legacy that will continue to serve its stakeholders for years to come. Bill has been a great source of knowledge and a friend to our distributor organization, always seeking collaborative opportunities to further our mutual interests and drive this industry forward. MHEDA will be forever grateful to Bill and ITA for the many resources they have created and shared and for the work that’s been done to continuously improve the forklift industry and provide increasing value to our end-users.
