Next week the capital of the material handling universe will be Chicago, Illinois, as the industry descends on the Midwest for ProMat 2015. Each year, ProMat/MODEX is one of my favorite events of the year. Not only is it an opportunity to see old friends from the industry but it is the preeminent networking opportunity for people in our industry. As an added bonus for me, it’s an opportunity to see the kinds of products I’m writing about every day and ask questions I might not otherwise think to ask.
Having spent the last five years working with MHEDA, I’ve progressively gotten more and more familiar with our industry. As I’ve written before, when I first started this job fresh out of college, I was a completely blank slate. However, there is absolutely no substitute for experience and these shows are my opportunity to interact with the products first hand and learn from the people who are in the thick of it every single day. Everytime I attend these industry events, I’m filled to the brim with ideas for content.
But this year, I’m more excited than usual because of the events that MHEDA has going on at the show. For the first time ever, MHEDA will be hosting a “Connections Conference” at ProMat on Monday. This is not only a great networking opportunity but will feature a panel discussion dealing with one of our industry’s most hot button issues, integrating multiple generations in the same work place. I am very excited to attend. Check out this MHEDA-TV video about the Connections Conference to whet your appetite and definitely make sure to stop by the MHEDA booth during the show and share your thoughts and insights about trends for 2015!
